Despite debates around higher ed, most Americans still value a college degree

Colleges and universities have been at the forefront of a debate in this country in recent years, over the value of higher education.

A new survey from the Chronicle of Higher Education digs into how Americans feel about that.

Among other things, the survey found most respondents would advise friends and family to get a bachelor’s degree. At the same time, when asked about alternatives, like trade schools, military service, apprenticeships and professional or technical training, majorities of respondents said those options were better or about the same as a bachelor’s degree.

Eric Kelderman, senior reporter for the Chronicle of Higher Education, joined The Show to talk about the findings and what they mean.
