It’s the end of an era at Turf Paradise, the historic horse racing track in north Phoenix near 19th Avenue and Bell Road.
Earlier this week, the track’s owner, Jerry Simms, announced he would retire after 23 years running it, and there would be no more live racing.
Now, the deal he had brokered to redevelop the track and the surrounding land also fell through, leaving the future of the iconic track up in the air.
