Arizona could have thousands fewer high school and college graduates and an economy hundreds of millions of dollars smaller if efforts to reverse pandemic-related learning loss are not successful. Those are among the findings of a new report from the Common Sense Institute Arizona.
State schools Superintendent Tom Horne recently announced he was taking back millions of federal COVID-19 relief dollars, and moving them to one-on-one tutoring programs. Money from the federal government aimed at dealing with COVID-19-related learning loss not used by the end of next September will go back to Washington, D.C.
