Public forum set to discuss controversial plan for new Flagstaff hospital

Northern Arizona Healthcare will hold a forum Wednesday to take questions about a new hospital campus in Flagstaff ahead of the rezoning referendum in November.

Members of the public can share questions about the proposed campus near Fort Tuthill County Park during the event at the Murdoch Community Center.

The planned project has already faced local concern and opposition. Among the issues raised are the costs to the city and the carbon footprint caused by construction. Political organization Flagstaff Community First is advocating for the public to overturn the Flagstaff City Council’s decision to approve construction of the hospital.

Efforts to build the new hospital came after Northern Arizona Healthcare determined the Flagstaff Medical Center to be outdated and without opportunities for expansion.
