Díaz and Boas: Are Democrats trying to co-opt the legacy of John McCain?

It’s not often the president of the United States comes to Arizona in an off election year, but this week, President Joe Biden will be in town to pay tribute to the late John McCain, the late Republican senator who represented Arizona for more than three decades.

The White House says his speech will be focused on “the work we must do together to strengthen our democracy."

It's largely Democrats who are celebrating McCain's legacy and not the most visible Republicans in the state.

Phil Boas says that GOP contenders like Kari Lake have not fared well in Arizona by telling McCain Republicans to "go to hell."

Boas is a columnist for the Arizona Republic and one of those McCain Republicans. He joined The Show alongside editorial page editor Elvia Díaz to talk more about it.
