How moms can influence their kids when it comes to voting — and vice versa

What impact do parents and their kids have on each other when it comes to civic engagement and voting?

New research from the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute for American Democracy finds both groups can impact each other — through what the author calls "trickle-down relationships" and "trickle-up relationships."

Kirsten Slungaard Mumma is an assistant professor of economics and education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She joined The Show to talk more about her research and what prompted her into looking at the relationship between mothers and their children when it comes to civic engagement and voting.
