Peoria shutting down its free POGO Destinations bus service

The city of Peoria is discontinuing its bus service known as the POGO Destinations Pilot Program.

Launched in 2021, the program bused people for free to “Peoria’s Points of Pride" locations, like the P83 entertainment district at 83rd Avenue and Bell Road.

Between its inception in October 2021 and July 2023, the city says the program cost $1.7 million and was used by fewer than 6,000 riders.

The service, which only operated Fridays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., officially ends Oct. 23.
