How to buy a shipping container used in Arizona's makeshift border wall

Later this month, Arizona will be auctioning off shipping containers used to construct former Gov. Doug Ducey’s illegal makeshift border wall.

The Arizona Department of Administration wants to unload more than 2,000 containers. Five containers will be auctioned online every two weeks starting Oct. 16.

The starting bid for each will be $2,000.

Some containers will be sold individually, and others will be sold in groups of three.

The department says containers are still available for direct purchase by nonprofit entities and governments.

The state spent about $100 million to put up the container wall last year and, in short order, spent $76 million to take it down after a federal lawsuit.
