74 artists and no theme. Phoenix’s most chaotic annual art show is back

Phoenix artist Randy Slack’s yearly show “Chaos Theory” has been a mainstay of the Phoenix art scene for more than two decades. And you can’t say that about a lot of things in the Phoenix art scene, which has ebbed and flowed and changed locations over the years.

But, the massive display has stayed steady throughout it all — if you can call a collection of pieces by 74 Arizona artists in one warehouse for one night steady.

Slack is known for his giant, often Arizona-themed paintings, love of surfing and Volkswagens and for curating the free show every year.

This year is the 23rd he’ll be doing it. Friday night it will be at Legend City Studios in downtown Phoenix. The Show got a preview earlier this week while artists were dropping off their work.
