Voter registration deadline approaches for November jurisdictional elections

Tuesday is the last day for Maricopa County residents to register to vote if they want to cast a ballot in one of many upcoming local elections.

Nov. 7 is election day for 23 school districts throughout the county, as well as six cities: El Mirage, Glendale, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Phoenix and Surprise.

In most jurisdictions, voters will get the chance to approve or reject various bonds and overrides — funding mechanisms that help pay for everything from school renovations and teacher salaries to city parks and public safety infrastructure.

These are all ballot-by-mail elections, meaning all registered voters within those school district and city boundaries will receive a ballot in the mail — even those who aren’t registered with the Active Early Voter List.

Voters have the option to return their ballot by mail, return it to ballot drop boxes or vote a replacement ballot in person.
