Survey reveals farmers' attitudes on water conversation in Colorado River Basin

A new survey of agricultural water users in the West shows that many have already implemented some kind of conservation measure. But the data also show many prefer those ideas to come from local organizations than national ones.

The survey asked more than 1,000 farmers and ranchers throughout the Colorado River Basin about their use of, and interest in, conservation practices. They survey also gathered their preferences on how to address water shortages going forward.

Hallie Mahowald is chief programs officer for Western Landowners Alliance, which was one of the groups behind the research. She spoke with The Show about some of the key takeaways from the survey.
