Evictions in Phoenix are skyrocketing. Why it may not get better anytime soon

Evictions in metro Phoenix continue to skyrocket.

Landlords filed to evict renters in Maricopa County more than 7,800 times in September. In August, it was more than 7,600 evictions — highs not seen since the housing crisis of 2008.

Maxine Becker says with soaring housing costs and long waitlists for vouchers, she doesn’t expect the problem to get better anytime soon. Becker, an attorney advocate for statewide anti-poverty nonprofit Wildfire, joined The Show to talk about what's happening.
