'We're living cultures': U.S. poet laureate used platform to highlight more Indigenous writers

Joy Harjo has had a long and storied career in poetry. She is the 23rd poet laureate of the United States and the first of Native American descent.

She’s also the author of 14 books of poetry and several other volumes, including children’s books and even a play.

Harjo is headed to Arizona this weekend for a workshop with the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing and shared some advice for aspiring poets with The Show.
