The weather stayed a bit cooler in the Phoenix area this week, but that won’t last through the weekend. Triple-digit temperatures are expected to return on Sunday.
Isaac Smith is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Phoenix. He said while it will get hotter, it’s not as bad as it sounds.
“For the most part, we’re going to be looking at highs across the Valley ranging anywhere from the upper 90s to right around the 100-degree mark," he said. "So we won’t be really climbing all that far into the hundreds.”
It should remain sunny and clear throughout the remainder of the week, with highs dropping back down to the mid 90s by Thursday.

Gradual warming is expected across the lower deserts over the next few days, as highs approach 100 degrees by Sunday. The forecast high temperature in Phoenix on Monday is more than 10 degrees above normal, with a 50% chance of at least tying the record for that date. #azwx #cawx pic.twitter.com/zaem1Bccwi
