AARP ranks Arizona's long-term care systems and supports. We fall right in the middle

A new survey looked at the state of long-term care in each U.S. state and Washington, D.C., Arizona came in right around the middle.

AARP released its Long-Term Services and Supports scorecard earlier this month. Arizona was ranked 22. For context, Minnesota was ranked #1, while West Virginia came in last at 51. One pain point in the report is the number of adult daycare centers.

Dana Marie Kennedy is the state director of AARP Arizona.

“We just don't have enough adult daycare services for people who want to keep their loved ones at home… and adult daycare services, you know, often transportation will come and pick up their loved one, take them to adult daycare, they provide a lot of mental stimulation,” she said.

The report found Arizona improved in only five out of the 50 total indicators. Indicators include things like quality of care and nursing home cost.
