Arizona 2050 Long-Range Transportation Plan projects $31 billion funding gap

On Friday, the Arizona Department of Transportation adopted its 2050 Long-Range Transportation Plan, which outlines funding priorities for the next 25 years.

According to ADOT, current projections show that funding needs will exceed $231 billion through 2050. The current plan set until 2040 shows there is a funding gap of approximate $31 billion.

The bulk of spending will be on state highway projects, at about 74%, with aviation infrastructure being the next top priority.

The plan does not define specific projects, but instead sets an outline based on future revenue.

ADOT’s long term plans are updated every five years. Approximately 10,000 Arizonans provided feedback through the drafting process.
