Tempe creates Community Enhancement Division to handle code enforcement

The city of Tempe has a new Community Enhancement Division to handle code enforcement. As part of its duties, the division will regularly inspect and enforce alley cleanliness and safety.

Drew Yocom is the deputy director.

“This is in alignment with the direction of our city council and city management to promote the public health and safety of our residents as well as addressing both alleyway issues and concerns on private property," she said.

Yocom says the division may also utilize nonprofit partnerships to help violators come into compliance.
