Mesa has opened a new self-service library in the city. Saturday’s grand opening also highlighted the expansion of the city’s Monterey Park where the library is located.
City spokesperson Kevin Christopher says the event was designed to include residents who influenced the decision to create the library.
“We wanted to hold this on a Saturday to make sure they are all a part of this as well. They obviously provided input and, of course, the voters approved the park bonds to make this a reality," he said.
Residents can use video kiosks to connect with staff at other libraries and store items in outdoor book lockers.
The library is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
