Montini: Baseball saved us in 2001, and it's saving us again now

The Arizona Diamondbacks are headed to Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night. They're down one game down to the Texas Rangers, who won 3-1 Monday night at Chase Field.

But no matter the score, no matter the bad calls, no matter the lineup — longtime Arizona Republic columnist E.J. Montini reminds us that we are all winning this World Series.

The last time the D-backs were in the series was 2001, just weeks after the world-altering tragedy of 9/11. And then, when we needed it most, baseball saved us.

Montini wrote about how baseball is saving us all again now in a recent column. He spoke with The Show about his memories of the 2001 games and more.
