Luis Gonzalez is one of the most recognizable names in Arizona Diamondbacks history. The former outfielder made the winning hit to win the World Series for the Diamondbacks the last — and only other — time they made it this far.
It was the bottom of the ninth in the seventh game of the 2001 series. The D-backs were up against the New York Yankees, and the bases were loaded. Gonzo stepped up to the plate and made baseball history.
The D-backs won that night. And Gonzalez told The Show that it’s been amazing to watch this young and unexpected team make it this far in 2023. Today, he’s still with the organization as senior advisor to the team's president and CEO.
The Show spoke with him more about his historic win, Arizona sports and how impactful a team like this is on us all.
