Anti-Trump Republicans attack new House speaker in ad airing in AZ

Republicans who want former President Donald Trump held responsible for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot are warning that the new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson also tried to overturn the 2020 election.

The Republican Accountability Project is launching a new ad in Arizona and other battleground states that will air during primetime hours on Fox News.

The ad narrator calls Johnson the last person who should be leading Congress, “After Donald Trump lost the election, Johnson started pushing Trump’s big lie.”

The narrator also says Johnson pressed the Supreme Court to overturn the outcome in four states, and he would not accept 2020 results even after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol.

“Johnson still refused to certify the election results in Arizona and Pennsylvania," the ad said.

Arizona has been identified by experts as one of a few swing states that could decide the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.
