Maricopa County wants to attract the best employees, so it's investing in child care

Maricopa County is investing a big chunk of money in child care. The Board of Supervisors recently approved a $13 million contract with KinderCare to operate a child care center that will be built in downtown Phoenix

The move comes on the heels of the county also beginning to offer paid parental leave to new parents starting last year.

Jen Pokorski, the county manager, says the goal is to keep and attract employees who made it clear this is a big need. Pokorski joined The Show to talk about it.
