Maid Fire: The latest on the wildfire near Flagstaff

Nov. 13, 2023: Maid Fire is now fully contained

The so-called Maid Fire in northern Arizona is now fully contained, U.S. Forest Service officials announced Monday. 

An emergency closure order is still in effect for Apache Maid Mountain south of Flagstaff.

The 942-acre fire was human-caused, and officials are still investigating the blaze’s origins.

The Forest Service is fighting a human caused 543-acre wildfire south of Flagstaff. 

The so-called Maid Fire is visible to travelers off Interstate 17 and the Verde Valley. It’s not yet contained and officials anticipate smoke will move northeast toward Flagstaff.

The fire was reported Nov. 4.
