In today’s post-COVID-19 world, many local restaurants are struggling to stay in business.
The historic MacAlpine’s Diner and Soda Fountain is among them. The nearly 100-year-old diner and former pharmacy has been closed since 2020, and its owner, Monica Heizenrader, is working toward reopening early next year.
KJZZ contributor Robrt Pela spoke with her about MacAlpine’s history and why it’s so hard to keep a diner open these days.
