Arizona court leaders cheer Chandler's online chat feature

Near the start of 2023, Chandler city court started experimenting with an online chat feature to answer peoples’ questions.

The tool was made permanent in July, and now it's been recognized by state court leadership for advancing the use of technology.

“A lot of the administrative things that people want to take care of. Like, ‘When is my court date?’ Or ‘How do I make a payment? Or ‘How do I sign up for defensive driving school?’” said Alicia Skupin, presiding magistrate of Chandler Municipal Court.

Skupin also said if the chat cannot answer a question, the user is asked to re-submit on the website, and the query is then emailed to a judge.
