Tucson man convicted in the 2018 murder of U.S. marshal

A Tucson man was convicted on Monday in the 2018 murder of a U.S. marshal.

Ryan Schlesinger faces life in prison for the second-degree murder conviction. He was also convicted on three counts of attempted murder, four counts of assault on a federal officer and an additional five counts of discharging a firearm while committing a violent crime.

Schlesinger shot and killed Deputy U.S. Marshal Chase White, who was helping to serve him with a felony arrest warrant for stalking a Tucson police sergeant.

Schlesinger had an extensive combative history with Tucson police. He had threatened other officers, harassed their families in their homes and just hours before killing White, sent a final threatening email to Tucson police.

White, 41, was survived by his wife and four children.

Schlesinger will be sentenced in January.
