Report: Arizona ranks 46th in U.S. for lung cancer screening, treatment

Arizona’s screening and treatment rates are among the lowest in the nation, according to the 2023 State of Lung Cancer report.

The report from the American Lung Association says the state ranks 46th in the nation for lack of treatment, and that screening was less than 2%.

It says that lung cancer remains one of the leading causes of death in the nation, but survival rates for those who get the disease have improved nationwide, including for people of color.

The gains have helped close a health disparity gap. This is the sixth year the group has released its report.
