There are more than 2,000 recreational land sites and national parks around the U.S. An annual pass available for purchase through USGS allows visitors to enter all the sites for free. But the way that pass works is changing a little next year.
An America The Beautiful Annual Interagency Pass covers recreational fees to parks, nature reserves and other federally-protected areas. The pass holder and everyone in their car have their entrance fees and other standard amenity fees waived at places like the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and the Red Rocks Conservation Area in Nevada.
It applies to sites managed by the park service, the Bureau of Land Management and other federal agencies. The pass normally comes with lines for two signatures — meaning two people can share it.
But starting Jan. 1, the card will have only one signature line. A spokesperson with Saguaro National Park in Tucson says that’s to ensure consistency, prevent fraud and reduce revenue loss.
