The U.S. Forest Service is taking the public’s input on a series of proposals that would add nearly 40 miles of trail in the forest around Sedona.
The Coconino National Forest is proposing adding 39 miles of non-motorized vehicle trails and would re-route other trails in the Red Rock Ranger District. That’s the forest district that encompasses Sedona, Cornville and the Village of Oak Creek.
In its proposal, the agency said it hopes to reduce conflicts at trailheads between mountain bikers and hikers for example. And it would renovate so-called social trails to keep visitors on designated routes. You can comment through December 19.
