The day before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year, but Sky Harbor got through the morning without any major hiccups.
Heather Shelbrack with the airport’s public relations department expects heavy traffic through the rest of Wednesday.
"We are busy throughout the day and as we get into the evening as well, we’re going to be very busy on our roadways, so we are encouraging travelers or those picking up travelers to use the 44th street or the 24th street Phoenix Sky Train stations for pick up and drop off," she said.
Shelbrack recommends leaving two hours to get to the airport for domestic flights and three hours for international trips. She also suggested checking flight statuses frequently, whether flying or picking someone up from the airport.
