Banner hospitals in Arizona start visitor restrictions over rising flu, RSV cases

All Banner hospitals across six states including Arizona have implemented their seasonal visitor restrictions effective Monday, Dec. 4.

In response to the increasing flu and respiratory virus cases, Banner has implemented visitor restrictions for children 13 and under. It includes barring them from visiting patients in their rooms, with the exception of newborn siblings, unless staff deem it a medical risk. More specifics on the restrictions can be  found here

In Arizona, flu projections are up 88% from a typical year. While RSV projections are down, their caseload is up 33% from the week before.

Last year, Arizona saw record-breaking flu and RSV caseloads. Current cases don’t appear to be surging to those levels this season.
