The Ethics Committee at the Arizona House of Representatives will hold a hearing later this month to investigate an ethics complaint filed against West Valley lawmaker Leezah Sun.
Democratic leaders in the House filed the ethics complaint against Sun, a fellow Democrat, on Nov. 3 over allegations she harassed City of Tolleson employees and interfered in a court-ordered transfer of child custody on behalf of a friend.
In a response to the complaint, Sun’s attorney downplayed claims she harassed or threatened the Tolleson employees. He admitted Sun intervened in the custody case but denied a second allegation that she claimed to represent Attorney General Kris Mayes while doing so.
A House attorney sent a letter to ethics committee members notifying them that the committee will hold a hearing on Dec. 19 to consider the complaint.
Rep. Joseph Chaplik (R-Scottsdale), who chairs the Ethics Committee, asked members to submit the names of witnesses they would like to see testify before the committee, along with proposed questions, according to the letter.
