Faith leaders in the Valley and concerned citizens are gathering at the Arizona State Capitol Saturday afternoon to mourn the loss of Jewish and Palestinian lives in the Middle East and call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Leaders from multiple faiths will be on hand during the vigil which lasts from 4 to 6 p.m.
At least one Arizona legislator — Rep. Athena Salman (D-Tempe), one of the few Palestinian Americans who serves in any state legislature — is expected to attend as well.

Faith leaders, lay people and practitioners, and concerned citizens of
different traditions in Phoenix, Arizona, will convene at an Interfaith Vigil
to mourn the loss of Palestinian and Israeli life and call for an immediate,
permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
The Arizona Interfaith Vigil – Pray for Ceasefire will be on Sat., Dec. 16,
at the Arizona State Capitol, in Phoenix, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. People
of all faiths are welcome to come together to stand in solidarity with the
victims and their families, to pray for the release of hostages and
prisoners, and to pray for an end to the violence that is destroying so many
lives.
Current Phoenix sponsoring organizations and leaders include African American
Christian Clergy Coalition (AACCC), Arizona Muslim Alliance, Arizona
Palestine Solidarity Association, Bafrayungist, Corazón Arizona, For All,
Jewish Voice for Peace, Street Psalms, Rep. Athena Salman, and Dr. Warren
