Jeff Bezos' nonprofit will bring tuition-free preschools to Mesa and Glendale

Tuition-free preschool programs are coming to Mesa and Glendale thanks to a partnership with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ nonprofit. The Bezos Academy will work with various entities in the cities to establish preschools that offer “year-round, full day programming” for “low-income families.”

The Mesa Public Schools district, Glendale Elementary School District and Glencroft Center for Modern Aging will partner with the Bezos Academy to offer the programming in 2025.

Renee Parker is the director of community partnerships for Mesa Public Schools.

“Mesa Public Schools offers lots of preschool programs currently. So, the Bezos Academy is just going to be able to expand being able to allow that service for our community,” she said.

Parker is also thankful for the opportunity.

“We are truly grateful that we're able to make this wonderful partnership with the Bezos Academy to provide that additional resource to families that would not have had that opportunity before,” she said.

A lottery-based selection process will be used to determine enrollment in the preschool programs.
