A crash involving an SUV and a disabled vehicle early Sunday left three people dead and three others injured on eastbound Interstate 10 near Tonopah.
Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves says the SUV struck the disabled vehicle, killing two of its passengers and the passenger of the disabled vehicle.
“Upon impact, one of those people that was outside the disabled vehicle, the passenger, died on scene. Driver of that car was flown to a Phoenix area hospital — unknown on his condition," he said.
Graves says speed was a "factor" based on a preliminary report. The crash resulted in the shutdown of I-10 eastbound at the site of the accident for several hours.
