ASU confirms a letter claiming a student was expelled for OnlyFans account is fake

A letter that appeared to be from Arizona State University expelling a student for creating adult content caused a stir among users on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

But a university spokesperson has confirmed that the letter is “fabricated and false.”

The post containing the letter, along with an image of a young woman posing on what appears to be an ASU campus, has been viewed over 10 million times.

An attached community note dubs it an “undisclosed ad” for an account on the platform OnlyFans; OnlyFans is a subscription platform often used by individuals to post sexual content of themselves. Having an account is not a listed offense in ASU’s student code of conduct.

The spokesperson added that ASU does not know the young woman’s identity and can’t confirm if she is a student. But that “misrepresenting the university by forging a document would be a violation of the student code of conduct.”
