It may be “the most wonderful time of the year,” but a new survey by the American Heart Association (AHA) shows it’s also the “stress, stressful-est season of all.”
In a survey of 1,000 adults nationwide, more than half of respondents said the holiday season is more stressful than tax season, that they neglect sleep, exercise and healthy eating throughout, and that takes them weeks to recover.
Meanwhile, seven out of 10 said they most regret not taking time to relax and enjoy the season, and almost eight in 10 said they were so focused on creating special moments for others they overlooked their own needs.
The AHA recommends eating smart, moving more, sleeping better and connecting with, and leaning on, loved ones.
