Loop 101 projects in Scottsdale, northwest Valley start in 2024

The Arizona Department of Transportation is preparing for a big year of projects on the Valley’s busiest freeways.

Some of them are already under construction and could wrap up soon, while others are just getting started.

ADOT will begin a pair of widening projects on Loop 101 — one on the Pima Freeway in Scottsdale, and the other on the Agua Fria Freeway in the northwest Valley.

Both projects are expected to last about two years.

Meanwhile, other projects already underway will continue, including the widening of the Broadway Curve — which began in 2021 and is the largest reconstruction project in ADOT history. Although the work isn’t done, drivers will be happy to know that it’s scheduled to wrap up at the end of 2024.

Efforts to widen a large stretch of Interstate 17 north of the Valley will also continue, with an estimated completion date of late 2025.
