Queen Creek police submit charges against 7 in the death of Preston Lord

The Queen Creek Police Department submitted charges against seven individuals in the death of an East Valley teen to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, the department announced Thursday.

Authorities say 16-year-old Preston Lord was assaulted on the street near 194th Street and Via Del Rancho in Queen Creek on Oct. 28. He died from his injuries two days later.

On Thursday night, friends and family of Lord organized a walk in his honor. They wore orange — his favorite color — and carried signs. The teen’s aunt Melissa Lord addressed the crowd.

"I do have faith that the impact he is making is not for nothing. He is shining his light brightly, uniting a broken community and reminding us that our children were born with an inherent goodness and we adults need to dial that back in."

No arrests have been made and police say they are still investigating. Police are asking anyone with information to submit tips to  p3tips.com/952.
