Football fans from across the country will descend on Glendale as the University of Oregon Ducks take on the Liberty University Flames for the annual Fiesta Bowl match at State Farm Stadium on Jan. 1.
To plan for the big event, the city works with agencies and employs resources from across the Valley to maintain security.
According to City Manager Kevin Phelps, the influx of fans coming in will be handled with the growth of new hotel rooms.
“We feel very comfortable that the influx of fans and people attending the events will be very seamless and have minimal impact with our residents who live in the area," he said.
Phelps also says there are enhancements when it comes to public safety with putting on the Fiesta Bowl such as the usage of drones.
