Flagstaff's minimum wage is now $17.40

Flagstaff's minimum wage has gone up again.

As of Monday, it rose to $17.40 from $16.80 an hour. The increase keeps the city ahead of Arizona’s minimum wage, which also slightly increased on Jan. 1.

The bump keeps pay in line with a citizen initiative Flagstaff voters approved in 2016. It uses the Consumer Price Index from August to August to gauge where that minimum should be. The state’s minimum is now $14.35.

City officials noted that in future years, it intends to stay ahead of Arizona’s minimum wage by at least $2 an hour.
