Arizona didn’t see much of a spike in gas prices over the holidays. But drivers in Maricopa County are paying about $3.40 for a gallon of regular gas right now. That’s about 30 cents above the national average, according to AAA.
"Part of the difference might be Arizona just had more demand for gas. More people were driving here than in the rest of the country and that extra demand is going to lift prices a little bit," said Julian Paredes with AAA Arizona.
Paredes expects prices to remain steady for the near future in Arizona. He said Arizona likely won’t see significant price increases until February or March.
