Joe Arpaio collects required signatures to run for Fountain Hills mayor

Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has announced that he’s obtained enough signatures to run for mayor of Fountain Hills this fall.

Arpaio — who served as sheriff from 1993 to 2017 — previously ran for mayor in 2022 but was defeated by incumbent Ginny Dickey.

In a statement released on social media, Arpaio said he is “thankful & honored for the citizens of Fountain Hills recognizing [his] wisdom, principles, and leadership.”

He also touted his experience dealing with issues related to drug enforcement and immigration.
