Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone is set to officially quit his job at the end of this week.
Now the Board of Supervisors wants to appoint someone to finish the final year of his term.
Penzone has been sheriff since 2017 after voters ousted Joe Arpaio.
The replacement for Penzone must also be a Democrat and live in Maricopa County.
The deadline to apply for sheriff is 5 p.m. on Jan. 19.
Officials say applicants should email cover letters and resumes to [email protected].
The documents can also be mailed to the Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, 301 W. Jefferson, 10th Floor, Phoenix, AZ 85003.
