Record number of Arizonans enroll in Affordable Care Act marketplace health plans

More Arizonans have signed up for health care through the Affordable Care Act marketplace than ever before.

The Biden administration  reports 2024 will be a record year for the ACA marketplace, with more than 20 million Americans signing up so far during this enrollment period. In Arizona, it’s also a record. More than 325,000 Arizonans have picked a plan on Healthcare.gov – a nearly 40% jump since last year.

This year’s high participation comes after about 14 million people nationwide were  disenrolled from Medicaid programs, as pandemic-era protections for that coverage expired in 2023. In Arizona, about 436,000 people have lost Medicaid coverage, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation

The deadline for open enrollment through healthcare.gov is Jan.16.
