Charles Ryan was in the courtroom on Thursday but he did not speak to reporters.
Ryan’s next scheduled court date is in early February for a mitigation hearing over the 2022 incident. It means a chance for Ryan to call witnesses and make a statement to try to convince a judge to impose a lower sentence.
Ryan pleaded no contest last year to disorderly conduct with a gun and a second charge was dismissed.
Ryan’s agreement with prosecutors calls for probation. The maximum sentence for his offense is two years in prison.
Tempe police initially said that Ryan pointed a gun at officers.
A correlating charge was not part of a grand-jury indictment of Ryan.
