David Farnsworth, a Republican state senator from Mesa, has publicly revealed that he has Stage 4 prostate cancer.
Farnsworth said he is responding well to treatment, but that medical staff initially told him he wouldn’t live past Christmas.
“I am running for reelection, just so nobody will wonder about that,” he said. “I will be here for a long time. So, we have work to do together.”
Farnsworth, 72, told a Senate committee this week he felt the need to address his condition to alleviate any concerns.
