Scottsdale City Council will meet to discuss updating the noise ordinance

Scottsdale residents and businesses have been voicing concerns about loud entertainment venues and special events. In response, the city launched a sound-monitoring project more than a year ago to gather data throughout the city.

On Tuesday, the City Council will review that data and discuss possible updates to noise ordinances.

Assistant City Manager Brent Stockwell says the issue is difficult to tackle.

“Well, I think one of the important things to understand is that measuring and regulating sound and noise is a very challenging issue because it's very complicated for a lot of different reasons,” he said.

The city has gathered public feedback online and through a series of workshops. Stockwell says further sound analysis will be conducted.
