Glendale looks into developing transitional housing for veterans

The Glendale City Council is considering a partnership with the Maricopa County Human Services Department to develop transitional housing for “homeless or at-risk veterans.” A Missouri-based nonprofit, Veterans Community Project, entered into an agreement with the city for the development of 50 transitional housing units.

Jason Kander is the president of national expansion for the nonprofit.

“Again, I would emphasize that nothing is official yet because obviously there’s a process at the city level that still needs to be navigated, but we’ve had a great experience so far working with the city and we're feeling really positive about everything moving forward,” he said.

The housing would be clustered in a small village that would include on-site support services, such as case management and counseling.
