AZ Regents set to consider contract for new University of Arizona football coach

The state Board of Regents is scheduled on Thursday to consider approving a five-year, multimillion-dollar contract that the University of Arizona negotiated with its new football coach.

UA’s Brent Brennan would make $2.2 million in base salary this year if the regents approve his contract.

Brennan can then boost his total pay up to almost $4 million through incentives, such as qualifying for a bowl game, taking part in promotions and team grade-point average.

Brennan would also get a $300,000 raise in base salary each year he remains UA’s football coach, and a $250,000 bonus if he still holds the job in two years.

UA is trying to recover from a shortfall of almost a quarter of a billion dollars.
